Hutton & Shenfield Choral Society
Home About Us Concerts Tickets Library Members

Hutton & Shenfield Choral Society is a lively amateur mixed choir of around 120 voices.  We generally perform 4 major concerts a year with professional orchestra and soloists as well as a concert of lighter music. The society’s membership is drawn mainly from the Brentwood area but some singers travel from a much wider area, drawn by our high standards and the reputation of the choir and its Musical Director, Tim Hooper.  The members are friendly and whilst we work very hard at our rehearsals and in the concerts, we hold regular social events which increase funds and bring the members closer together.

We actively seek to encourage young people to become members.  Our general subscription policy set by the membership at the Annual General Meeting, reflects this.

Our main concert venue is the International Hall at the Brentwood Centre and over the last few years, we have performed regularly in the Chelmsford and Brentwood Cathedrals.  Whilst most of our concerts comprise music from the standard choral repertoire, from 16th to 21st centuries, we hold a very popular Christmas concert each year on the last Saturday before Christmas and a concert of light music.

Many of our concerts are accompanied by the Aurelian Symphony Orchestra, a locally based orchestra of professional freelance players.
